NEW YORK, NY - January 17, 2007 - Richard Avedon is one of the most
revered photographers of the 20th century. Artist Apryl Miller has
been commissioned to permanently alter one of his classic studio
portraits, through the use of collage. The portraits consist of 15
figures, five of which will be completely obliterated using papers
Miller creates herself.
Miller makes her papers by Xeroxing colorful 3-D objects. The contents
of the papers and the shapes she will create, reference everything
from "The Sex Pistols", to Gumball Machine prizes, to "The Lollypop
Guild". This gives one of the sitters the appearance of a demon with a
tail, another an Outer Space invader and some unclassifiable
silhouettes.
Based in New York City, Miller has been a collage artist, creator of
3-D works and interiors and is now branching out into interactive
installation art.
